We all do it.
Whenever people are talking about a topic and we have no clue what they’re talking about, we play the game.
We smile. We nod our head.
We hope no one notices we’re slowly backpedaling out of the room so we can Google the foreign topic on our smartphone.
And when we return to the conversation a few minutes later, we proudly share the information we learned.

Of course, the conversation has usually switched to a different esoteric topic by that point, so you smile, nod your head, and begin the dance anew.
Thankfully, when you read a blog post covering a topic in which you’re unfamiliar, you don’t have to go very far to Google information. You can look things up right there on your computer or smart device without the judging eyes of others staring you down.
Heck, if you’re lucky, the blogger who wrote the post will have provided all the info you need – no Googling necessary!

Still, sometimes a topic is over your head.
You know the advice can help you, but the topic is just too advanced. Simply put: you’re not yet at the point in your blogging journey where you can handle such concepts.
Trust me, you aren’t alone. There are so many bright minds in the blogosphere, no one is immune to those “what the heck is this person talking about?” thoughts.
I read a post yesterday which completely and utterly perplexed me. Granted, it was written in German, but the point remains…

No one knows everything, and that’s okay.
Next time you read a post covering a topic that seems miles over your head, don’t let it get you down.
Check out the post’s comments to see if other readers have provided helpful postscripts. Browse the blog to see if the author has written similar content that could provide some clarity. Get on Google and see what else you can find.
Or, feel free to bookmark the post and try it again in a month or two. Come back to it when you’re ready.
That’s what I did with the German post.
Now I just need to learn the language…
