How to Drive Traffic to Your Blog With StumbleUpon
StumbleUpon is one of the best traffic generators among the top seven social media sites, referring more than other social bookmarking and voting sites if you like.

As a blogger, managing all the different social media platforms can be a challenge. Each works differently, requires different sized images, attracts different demographics, etc. It’s a time commitment to learn each one and discover how you can use it to drive traffic to your blog.

Start using StumbleUpon to get more Traffic

I didn’t start using StumbleUpon for my blog until about two months after I started blogging. I had used it during college to find funny or interesting articles, but hadn’t thought to use it for my blog. And that was a huge mistake! Once I started using StumbleUpon, I realized what a great traffic source it can be. I’ve experimented with it for almost a year, and have been able to consistently drive traffic  for the last four months. These days, it drives nearly as much traffic to my site as Pinterest does! Today I’m sharing my secrets with you and talking about how to drive traffic to your blog with StumbleUpon.

Add Your Posts

Every day that you put up a new blog post, add it to StumbleUpon! If you have social share buttons on your blog (such as Shareaholic), you can add it on there. But I prefer to add my post directly on the StumbleUpon website. This allows you to choose the category your post will go in and add tags. The image below shows the site where you can add your post.

Stumble Often

Like other social media platforms, engagement is important. It’s important to engage with other posts on the site. On StumbleUpon, each time you hit the “Stumble” button, it brings you to a new page (blog posts, pictures, articles, shops, etc). For each page you can either give it a thumbs up or thumbs down. This will help drive traffic to the sites you liked, as well as tell StumbleUpon what kind of pages they should show you in the future.

Add Pages

Not only should you be “liking” pages, you should also be adding pages! When I find a blog post I like, I head to their social media buttons and add their post to StumbleUpon. Not only does this drive traffic to other blogs that deserve it, StumbleUpon will send more people to your post when you’re sharing the love.

My Routine

Here’s what I do everyday to ensure I’m getting the best results from StumbleUpon.
  1. First thing in the morning, I had my post for the day to StumbleUpon.
  2. Throughout the day, I add other blog post that I enjoy.
  3. In the evening, I Stumble for awhile, liking other posts.
  4. Between liking or adding other posts, I try to engage with at least 15 other posts. I find that sharing at least this many, StumbleUpon rewards me by sending more people to my post.
So there you have it! It takes only a few minutes each day to share your post and engage with others to drive traffic to your blog with StumbleUpon. Many bloggers haven’t discovered the power of the site yet, and I encourage everyone to try it!
