Happiness is one of the most important assets we can have. It is so interesting, because we all have different ideas about what happiness is and how to be happy. If there’s a smile to be had or a positive outlook to take, we’ll do our best to find it. As such, we’re always keen to test out new ways to improve on this value of happiness at work, at play, and at home. If you are not happy, then life can become pretty meaningless.

I would love to be happier, as I’m sure most people would, so I thought it would be interesting to find some ways to become a happier person that are actually make me happy.

How to be happy?: Key to Happiness:
An unhappy person is not at their optimum at work, as a parent, or as a friend. You must look after yourself before being able to look after others.
If you are not happy enough, why you are not happy? read this to find your reason to not to be happy.

So how do you become happy?

Whilst there’s no magical wand you can wave to become happy, there are several things you can do that will help.

Here are 10 ways to be happy in life!

1. Creative Thinking Makes You Happy

Learn. Expand your mind. Read broadly. Travel, if you can. Expose yourself to other cultures and ideas. Challenge your thinking. Don’t get intellectually lazy. An active, engaged mind is a happy mind… and a more creative one. Fostering creative thinking is difficult to do in a vacuum. Creative thinking can lead to creative ways to overcome problems and to create a life that impassions and excites you.

2. Be comfortable with who you are

No-one's perfect. But so often we compare our insides to other people's outsides. Dwelling on our flaws - what we're not rather than what we've got - makes it much harder to be happy.

Learning to accept ourselves, warts and all, and being kinder to ourselves when things go wrong, increases our enjoyment of life, our resilience and our well-being. It also helps us accept others as they are.

3. Forgiveness makes you Happy

Happiness is easy and natural until you experience your first wound. For this reason, the second meta-attitude that makes such a big difference to your happiness score is forgiveness. You cannot hold onto a grievance and be happy. Why? One reason is you can't be a victim and be happy. Holding onto a grievance is a sign of a mistaken identity. You are not a victim. Also, holding onto a grievance is really a decision to keep suffering. Forgiveness helps you let go and be happy.

4. Believe you are Strong

Believe there is strength deep inside you.
There may be times when we feel at our rope’s end. But often, it is at those very moments that a little more rope is almost miraculously extended. It is also when we have nothing left to give that we find a hidden strength deep inside that lifts us to the occasion allowing us to endure a little longer.

The human spirit is amazing. It is resilient. Believe that yours is too!
Believe you have inner strength enough to overcome whatever confronts you, to do what life requires of you, to rise to the best that’s inside you, to move forward, in kindness and decency and self-respect, to construct a life worthy of the title.

5. Positive Thinking makes you happier

It seems that positive thinking has come under fire a bit from some quarters lately.  But much of the criticism has positive thinking mostly wrong. It is not so much the recitation of affirmations that fly in the face of reality, as much as a rigorous retraining of the mind and attitude to learn to see things in brighter hues.

Positive thinking, in a word, is a learned trait. We can improve how positively we see the world by choosing what aspects of it to focus our attention on. The rewards of such an effort are life-changing.

6. Take care of your body

Our body and our mind are connected. Being active makes us happier as well as being good for our physical health. It instantly improves our mood and can even lift us out of a depression.

We don't all need to run marathons - there are simple things we can all do to be more active each day. And we can also boost our well-being by unplugging from technology, getting outside and - importantly - making sure we get enough sleep!

7. Gratitude

The real gift of gratitude is the more grateful you are, the more present you become. In the English language, the word "present" has three distinct meanings: "here," "now" and "a gift." This is surely not a coincidence. Practicing gratitude teaches you that the greatest gifts are always available to you here and now! One way to practice gratitude is to start expressing it. Think about who you are truly grateful for in your life. Do you realize how happy they will be when you tell them? Gratitude is double happiness because it blesses both the giver and the receiver.

8. Believe Change is Possible

Have you ever felt trapped, stuck and unable to get off the hamster wheel of life? Have you ever felt like nothing is ever going to change, that life is just going to keep spinning in a circle, going round and round and round and round?

Those are not feelings consistent with a happy life. Change is the great constant in life, after all. It happens everywhere at all times. Life itself is change.

And you can change too! You can change how you live, what motivates you, the habits that plague you and the limits that bind you. You can become something more than you feel you are today. You can change how you see and interpret life and your role within it. You can evolve and transform and become a new creature.

You are not stuck in the still-life of your pain or dissatisfaction. You can become happier than you are right now. Change is not only possible, it is inevitable. You decide the nature of that change. But it starts with believing change is possible.

9. Look for whats good

Positive emotions - like joy, gratitude, contentment, inspiration, and pride - are not just great at the time. Recent research shows that regularly experiencing them creates an 'upward spiral', helping to build our resources.

So although we need to be realistic about life's ups and downs, it helps to focus on the good aspects of any situation - the glass half full rather than the glass half empty.

10. Do things for others

Our generosity is hard-wired to the reward mechanisms in our brains. When we give our time, energy and kindness to others it not only helps them, it's also great for our well-being too.

Bonus Tip to make you happy ever after

Rather than worrying about your difficulties (which does nothing to improve circumstances, but lots to expand the size of the problem in our minds — and the stress associated with that expansion), spend your time and energy thinking of possible solutions to the difficulty you are having instead — or of ways to prevent the potential problem from ever developing in the first place!

Happy people are solution-oriented. Unhappy people are problem-oriented. Change that orientation and more happiness will be yours for the picking!

Concluding

Although our genes influence about 50% of the variation in our personal happiness, our circumstances (like income and environment) affect only about 10%. As much as 40% is accounted for by our daily activities and the conscious choices we make. So the good news is that our actions really can make a difference.

How you think and what you think about, over time, largely creates the circumstances of your life… including the degree to which happiness and joy and love and excitement and passion and purpose and meaning will play a major role in it.

It takes a tough person to learn to think differently. We develop patterns of thought, habitual ways of thinking, over the course of a lifetime. To change course midstream requires a tremendous effort of will in many cases.

But we can learn to think differently and to view the world with new eyes.
