Microsoft bot developers can now use new cognitive services and Bing APIs. Same applies for Bing bots developers. 

Microsoft surprised during the last Build with its Bot Framework. Those of Redmond consider that the future of the interaction from our smartphone will not be the apps, but the bots. In this way, the company allowed developers to create bots that can be used in multiple messaging services such as Skype, Slack, Telegram and Facebook Messenger. In fact, in Skype, we can try many of them.

The Bot Framework development team works on improving it steadily, adding new features for both developers and bot users. Yesterday, the company presented a significant update that further opens up the possibilities of the developers when creating the bots, providing them with a new set of cognitive and Bing service APIs.

To begin with, Microsoft has given them access to the Cognitive Services Computer Vision API, which basically allows developers to have their bots describe images. Also, they incorporate Speech APIs and Bing Image Search to the Bot Framework, which is the same API used by Cortana for speech recognition.

The Search Image API allows a bot to search for images in Bing. If the input method is a text, it will search the images based on the metadata and the context of the web where it is as usual in the search engine; If we introduce an image, it will look for similar images.
