A new messaging application has exploded in popularity and its release in June. This is Sarahah, a platform that allows its users to send and receive anonymous messages without fear of their privacy being violated.
Sarahah, which means "honesty" in Arabic, was devised as a way to give honest feedback at work, but it expanded into the market when teenagers started using it at Snapchat. The app has been in Apple App Store Top for several weeks in dozens of countries.
Outside the office, the tool seeks to provide an honest communication channel for people and, unlike other social platforms, there is no way to answer the messages or know who sent them.
"Your friends need not hide behind a screen to give you constructive feedback." Spot on. #Sarahah pic.twitter.com/0zv25El2Jw— Sharada (@suitcaseindian) August 14, 2017
How does Sarahah app work?
Once you download the app, you generate an account to receive the comments. You can share your profile with your friends on other social platforms like Facebook to leave you private messages. You can also find people you know in the app if you have your username. You can highlight as a personal a message you receive, as well as forward it or save it. You can also block senders if the texts that arrive are offensive or uncomfortable.
Many people believe that the app could facilitate cyber bullying, but Tawfiq asserted that it was not Sarahah's nature, but rather constructive criticism.
